Avon Anew Retroactive

Where I got it: I was sent these for consideration from Avon. For many years, Avon has been available via representatives where they drop off a catalogue to your doorstep and you tick off those order sheets and you leave it outside to be collected again. Now you can purchase their products on shop.avon.co.nz.

What I got: I was sent the Avon Anew Retroactive range which includes the Youth Extending Cleanser, Youth Extending Day Cream, (night) cream and the Eye Gel. This is Avon’s first ever pre-ageing skin care range ideal for women in their 20’ and 30’s. Avon’s ANEW Retroactive Youth Extending skin care range is the best start for those wanting to make skin care a priority in their daily routine.

Sea grape extract and exclusive Focus Repair Technology repairs damaged skin cells or what we call “microdamage”.

Microdamage is invisible to the naked eye but accumulates under the skin, eventually forming those very first fine lines and wrinkles. It can take nine years to appear, making pre anti-ageing skincare a must to prolong beautiful, smooth skin.

How I find it:

Youth Extending Cleanser (introductory price $15 for a limited time. Full price $48). Anew Retroactive Youth Extending Cleanser is a rich foaming cleanser effectively removes dirt, impurities and dead skin cells, leaving skin looking refreshed and balanced and feeling refined.

This is a foaming cleanser that is familiar to a lot of Shiseido’s foaming cleansers. It comes out like toothpaste and you just add a bit of water to it and lather it up in your palms and then massage into the skin. Of course, I always double cleanse with a makeup removing oil first to get rid of makeup and sunscreen etc. This cleanser has a really comfortable lather and cleanses the skin effectively without over stripping the skin’s natural moisture and oils. Skin is left feeling clean but not dry. Has a pleasant light scent too.

Youth Extending Day Cream SPF15 (introductory price $27 for a limited time. Full price $48.). Anew Retroactive Youth Extending Day Cream is a non-greasy, fast-absorbing cream provides instant, intense 24-hour moisturisation. Skin instantly looks brighter and feels bouncier.

Comes in Avon’s signature cream jar packaging the cream is white in colour and has a rather strong scent that lingers on for at least an hour. The Retroactive range does not have a toner or a serum which makes this range very easy and minimal time to use. Great for those starting on skincare and doesn’t want 5-10 products on your skin. The day cream is moisturising but not greasy or sticky. It feels hydrating and is absorbed within a minute or so. SPF 15 is never enough for me so I always add my own sunscreen on top.

Youth Extending Cream (night) (introductory price $27 for a limited time. Full price $48.). Anew Retroactive Youth Extending Night Cream is a lightly-fragranced, lightweight cream works where you need it most to help skin look and feel firm, elastic and revitalised.

A similar Cream to the day version, just without the SPF. Feels pretty much the same as the day cream in terms of textures, scent and finish on the skin.

Youth Extending Eye Gel (introductory price $18 for a limited time. Full price $30.). Anew Retroactive Youth Extending Eye Gel is a lightweight, non-greasy gel-lotion immediately reduces the appearance of lines.

This eye gel comes in a really nice glass bottle with a pump. One pump is more than enough for both eye area, I usually use about 3/4 of a pump. The eye gel has a gel-lotion consistency and it has micro-shimmers in the gel to get the glowing reflective effect. It feels lightweight and is absorbed into the eye area quite fast. For some reason, the first 2 times I used it, it made my eyes water like crazy! Then after that, I didn’t have any problems (weird huh?). The eye gel feels fresh on the skin and does not leave any greasy or tight feeling on the skin.

Overall: I quite like this range for its scent and how lightweight it feels on the skin. The cleanser is a very effective cleanser that is great for pretty much all skin types especially oily to oily combination because of the foaming action. The day and night moisturisers are lightweight but they provide adequate moisture to the skin. However, SPF 15 is quite minimal and I would add extra sunscreen on top (minimum SPF30 PA+++). The eye gel is my favourite because it is so lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It feels great in summer that it is cooling and soothing. I love the packaging as well in a glass pump bottle. Overall the range is great for someone who is in their early to mid-20s who are prolonging the time before the first signs of ageing occurs. It is a basic set of skincare regime that is easy for anyone to follow. Snatch these up before the introductory price offer expires!
