Sigma haul #1

Sigma haul packaging

Where I got it: I ordered these on the Sigma website back in November last year. They were having a discount offer and I was quite interested in their new Lip Switch so I ordered it along with a few other items. I ordered these on 26/11 and they were only delivered over 2 months later! Gosh, I think they must’ve lost my order or something. I had to email the Sigma team to let them know I haven’t got my parcel yet then the next day they sent me an email stating that my parcel was shipped from the states. A bit disappointed I’ll say.

Sigma Haul

What I got: I ordered a Lip Switch in Flip-flop, a Shimmer Cream in Bliss and a  Liquid Highlighter in Afterglow.

How I find it:

Lip Switch in Flip-flop ($14). Holographic lip glosses that are prismatic and light-weight, adding a dimensional new layer to your favourite lip colour. Wear the translucent shades alone for high shine with an eye-catching surprise when the light hits your smile. Flip-flop is ” a fiery orange holographic finish”. It also comes in 3 other shades.

This is the product that got me all interested in checking out the Sigma website. I saw a really pretty picture on Sigma’s Instagram account and saw these hologram lips! They are Sigma’s new lip topper product where you apply this over a layer of lip colour.

Liquid highlighter in Afterglow ($12). Afterglow Liquid Highlighter is the perfect touch of light for that lit-from-within glow. Features a long-wearing formula for extra staying power in summer’s heat.

This liquid highlighter comes in a clear plastic tube with a brush applicator which I find just a little awkward to use. It is a small lip gloss type of brush but I would not apply this directly onto the areas I need to highlight because it is a little too concentrated and I don’t want to move my base makeup. I prefer to out the product into the back of my hand and either dab the product with my fingertips or use a dense kabuki brush to dab and apply to the face.

Shimmer Cream in Bliss ($16, $11.20 on discount). The Shimmer Cream was created as a brightener to be worn anywhere on the face. Use to highlight and/or contour, depending on the shade. Try blending a small amount over your cupid’s bow before applying lip colour, or smoothing a small amount down the centre of your nose. The overall effect of well-placed shine illuminates you to the world. Be a happy and healthy-glowing ice queen year-round.

I was really expecting a shimmer peachy shade cream, but as you can see in the photo below it looks pretty creamy and flat to me. Where did the shimmer go?? Initially I though it was only the surface, but when I rubbed my finger into the product, still no shimmer. I applied this like I would as a cream blush instead because the pigment was quite nice – a wash of subtle peach tones with a natural finish. I like to apply this with my fingertips or a stippling brush to create a softer look.

Overall: Besides the longest shipping time, I quite like the products and I do intend to try out their well-known makeup brushes in the future. The liquid highlighter shade is really pretty but it is not my favourite type of applicator/packaging. I prefer a tube where I squeeze it directly onto my fingertips. The Shimmer Cream was a bit of a surprise as it looks more like a cream blush than a shimmer cream which I expected would have micro-shimmers in it. However, the shade is still really pretty so I will continue to use this as a blush. The Lip Switch is something different. The idea is really cool and the holographic effect is pretty awesome, but again with the packaging and the applicator. I would expect a more doe-foot applicator or even a squeeze tube with a brush so that you can get a more even coverage of the product instead of using a brush that it comes with an create streaky brushstrokes.
