Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Moisturiser and Serum

Where I got it: I was sent these products to try and review, but you should be able to find both of these at RRP NZD$49.99 at leading pharmacies and supermarkets.

What I got: This is a 50g tub of Micro-sculpting moisturiser and a 50mL (pump)bottle of Micro-sculpting serum from the new Olay Regenerist range. The new Regenerist range boasts a 20% more anti-aging ingredients compared to previous formulations. It claims to regenerate your skin surface faster than a $250 luxury cream and hydrates better than 18 luxury creams costing up to $500. The new and improved formulation boosts natural skin renewal, provide immediate improvement in fine lines, pores and brightness. You can find out more on Olay’s website.

Red, black and silver packaging is really classy and expensive looking.20130420-013150.jpgSame colour theme for the pump bottle and jar.

How I find it: Firstly, I love the packaging, the red colour works really well as an anti-aging product for some reason. As for the moisturiser and serum itself…

Micro-sculpting serum: I used this after cleansing (currently with Dove beauty cream bar) and toning. I used one pump and I find that is just the right amount for me. The serum has a really pretty pearl shimmer to it. The texture itself is not as rich/thick as I thought it would be and it smooths out very easily and is quickly absorbed. I have always had a thought that anti-aging = thick and heavy creams… but this is not the case (this is suitable for normal, dry and combination skin). It gives a sheer finish on my skin so it is not sticky or greasy. Smells nice too.

20130420-013209.jpgMicro-sculpting moisturiser: I give the serum a minute to sink in then I apply the moisturiser. The jar design is a little undesirable for me because it can get unhygienic. The cream is quite thick in the jar, but on the skin it smooths out nicely and doesn’t leave my skin sticky or oily. Some people with really dry skin may find this not moisturizing enough. Again this smells nice too!

(I use both products at the same time so I review them as a how they work as a combined system.)
First application: fast absorbing, matte finish, right amount of moisture, fine lines reduced because of the silicon.
Second day: immediately 3 breakouts, I then researched online to see a lot of other people had the same reaction and it took some people 2-3weeks to improve (I have just found out my breakouts may be due to the fact that this is formulated for people aged 40+, I might get some for my mum!). But the overall end result seems to be worth the wait.
After a week: still breaking out.. but just some white heads, no big pimples. The forehead area is a little tightened, but nothing much on the jaw line yet. I have been applying it on my neck and chin area, and the skin is really smooth and soft (no break outs!)! A little goes a long way and this jar will last me a long time!
After a month: I’ll check back in a few weeks!
