Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable 25hr Foundation

Where I got it: I got this from The Warehouse for $21.50. They were doing a buy 2 get 1 free offer but I did not get anything else from the brand. The Warehouse often has good offers and you can also get Rimmel products from Kmart and Farmers. Farmers is currently selling this for $24.99.

What I got: This is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable 25hr Foundation in shade 200 Soft Beige (3rd lightest shade). This product has SPF 20 and claims to provide long-wearing medium coverage whilst being able to let skin breath. The website says: Long-wearing and lightweight skin perfecting foundation with medium coverage. Breathable skin technology that moisturizes for up to 25hrs.

How I find it: The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a plastic screw-top cap. Without thinking, I thought this was a pour-out bottle design or with a pump. When I opened it, I pulled out a large doe-foot applicator much like the Tarte ShapeTape or the Clarins Lip Comfort Oil applicator. I thought that was quite cute and the applicator seems to pick up a decent amount of product, but it can be a little unhygienic.

I like to apply a hydrating or a mattifying primer before my foundation just to help keep my oiliness at bay. You shake up the foundation and I apply long strokes across my cheeks, down my nose, a few strokes on my forehead and on my chin and jawline. I dip in about 3 times in total for my whole face. The consistency of this foundation is very fluid and it’s almost like a serum foundation you get in a dropper. It is not as watery as the MAC Waterweight or The Ordinary Colours, but it is not as thick as the Wet n Wild Photofocus or any traditional liquid foundation.

I like to blend this with either my fingertips or a dense kabuki brush because of how lightweight this foundation is. If I use a dampened beauty blender, it would sheer out the foundation even more. I think 1 layer works great for me because I like a natural look without looking cakey. I do use a little bit more on my cheeks to get more coverage on my acne scars and I don’t see much cakiness or product getting bunched up. Therefore you can certainly build this up to a medium coverage without getting too thick on the skin.

This foundation dries down petal-matte, therefore, is not dewy or too drying. It feels so soft and amazing on my oily/combo skin and all I need to do is powder it with a setting powder and my base is ready. Blush and highlighter (even cream products) goes on easily without moving or bunching.

Overall: It is such a bummer that the shade of this foundation is too pink for me because the formula is just amazing. It is hydrating but lightweight. It sits on the skin very naturally and does not exaggerate any dry patches or pores. It is the best sheer to medium coverage that I would wear every day. I am super comfortable wearing this type of coverage and weight on my skin for an entire day without feeling my skin can’t breathe or I’m getting too oily.

From the packaging, I thought it claims to wear for 25hrs, but it actually claims to provide moisture for 25hrs. I mean the packaging can be a little misleading right? However, I don’t know who would wear foundation for 25 hours, I know I certainly won’t! As for longevity for my skin type (combination/oily), it wore pretty well. My t-zone started getting oily about 4 hours after application, but it still looks quite nice, not cakey or sinking into my pores. After another 2 hours, it starts to move around my mouth, my forehead and my nose. I can easily blot and reapply if I want to and powder over and my foundation still looks great.
