Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Mask-in-oil

Where I got it: I got this from my local Life Pharmacy Estée Lauder counter while they were having a buy 3 items and get 15% off PLUS gift with purchase. This is RRP $149.

What I got: This is a 30ml bottle of the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Mask-in-oil. From our #1 serum worldwide comes an innovative treatment for radiant, younger-looking skin. This skin-strengthening mask-in-oil with Chronolux™ and anti-oxidants helps “lock in” the power of your Advanced Night Repair Serum Helps fortify skin to fight the look of ageing. The concentrated formula strengthens, nourishes and rebuilds, helping to create a virtual nighttime cocoon. Prepares skin for the day ahead by boosting its natural resistance to daily environmental assaults. Use it every night and awaken to skin that looks renewed and radiant. It claims to strengthen the skin, support skin’s natural recovery and restoring radiance for dull skin.

How I find it: The product comes in a transparent glass bottle with a faded brown tint much like the classic ANR serum only a bit more see-through. It comes with a dropper as well to dispense the product and the oil is very fluid and runny. The term mask seems to give the wrong first impression to most people thinking that it is a mask. Instead, it feels lightweight but moisturising at the same time. It has a good slip and would be fantastic for a facial massage. Designed to be used at night after the ANR serum or any serum you want to use to lock in or seal everything in. So after my serum/concentrate, I use about 3 drops of this oil all over my face with a bit of gentle massage. I like to cover my neck area as well so I use another 1-2 drops. I love the smell of this and how comfortable it is when I massage with my fingers and palms on my face.

Overall: After some research online, apparently this mask-in-oil has the exact same ingredients as the intensive ampoules which is about double the price! However, the order of the ingredients is slightly different and the higher that particular ingredient is on the list, the more it is in the formula. So they are similar, but not the same (not sure if that still justifies the price tag though).

In terms of the product on my skin, I love how it sinks in, not too fast, not too slow. It gives my skin a very beautiful glow and moisturises without feeling thick and greasy. I usually don’t apply a moisturiser at night if I use this oil. I like to use this either 3-4 times a week to maintain skin condition or I use it every night for 2 weeks for an intense recovery treatment (great for after chemical peels, microdermabrasion, sun burn, wind burn, etc.).

In regards to comparison to the ampoules, I can’t really tell a big difference between the two in terms of it’s benefits to the skin. It is handy to take the capsules with you to travel, like on the plane or just an overnight trip somewhere. It would also be good to use immediately after you have been to the beach. Just wash your face and massage the oil all over the face for an immediate recovery treatment. Therefore if you are interested in the ampoules, I would recommend give this oil a try first because it is a fraction of the price and does pretty much the same thing (in my opinion).
