Antipodes Skin-Brightening Minis

Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration from Antipodes (thank you), but I already love Antipodes products especially their serums and their Aura Manuka Honey Mask. You can find Antipodes from most Life Pharmacies, health food stores and online. For a list of stockists, check out www.antipodesnature.com.

What I got: This is the Antipodes Skin-Brightening Minis with 2 trial size products – Apostle Skin-Brightening Serum (10ml) and Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening Light Day Cream (15ml). The compact mini versions of the award-winning products are perfectly sized to meet on-board luggage restrictions, or slip into handbags. They also make perfect gifts and are a way to trial Antipodes’ premium products for those who are new to natural skincare. Both products feature Vinanza Grape and Kiwi, a revolutionary antioxidant extract from Marlborough sauvignon blanc grapes and the skins of the superfruit Kiwifruit. This compound is clinically shown to help improve skin appearance by decreasing trans-epidermal water loss by 16%, improving skin elasticity by 16%, decreasing skin redness by 7% and lightening skin by 3.5%. Suitable for most skin conditions, especially pigmented, blemish-prone or oily skin.

How I find it: After cleansing and toning, I use one dropper-ful of the brightening serum (that’s about 2-3 drops) and apply this all over my face. The serum is water-based so it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave an oily film on the skin. It also smells fruity, but not sickly sweet which I really like. The serum isn’t very hydrating, so pretty much right after the serum, I can apply the day cream immediately. A small pea sized amount is enough for the whole face and it spreads nicely over the serum. As a day cream, it doesn’t have SPF so I can use it day and night but I will definitely use an SPF30 sunscreen over this during the day. The day cream is more moisturising and takes a few minutes for it to sink into my skin. It has a lingering honey-scent, so if you don’t like the smell of honey, this might not be best for you because it does linger on for a good while.

Overall: I absolutely adore the serum! I love the texture, I love the scent, I love how it feels on my skin. I used it day and night for 2 weeks straight and I’ve finished the serum and with half of the cream left because you only need a little bit of the cream and I just simply love the serum.  The combo brightened my skin in a way that is not whitening, but made my skin clearer. I get less blotchiness and less redness around my cheeks and my skin is hydrated and plump. I still use my Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant before the serum which also helps keeping my complexion clear and removes dead skin cell build up.
