Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipstick

Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipstick

Where I got it: I was sent these as PR samples (thank you). These are available from many places – Farmers, The Warehouse, leading pharmacies, Kmart, supermarkets, etc. They are RRP$21.99 each.

What I got: These are the Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipsticks. I was sent 7 shades: 760 Gone Griege, 790 Midnight Merlot, 800 Dynamite Red, 805 Orange Danger, 810 Fiery Fuchsia, 820 Berry Bossy and 825 Blackest Berry. There is one more shade – 825 Chocoholic. From the Maybelline website: “Hypercolor pigments and an opaque, creamy clay base deliver one-stroke intensity. Sumptuous honey nectar leaves a creamy finish.”

Front to back: 760, 790, 800, 805, 810, 820, 825

How I find it: First of all, the formula of these lipsticks are quite creamy and has a semi-matte finish. They are extremely pigmented and full coverage, you may want to use a lip liner to carefully trace the line of your lips before you apply because you can easily mess things up. Bold colours like this, it can get quite hard to fix. I like to prep my lips with a nice lip balm before I start doing my face makeup, then I gently wipe away excess lip balm and apply the lipstick. I start with the bottom lip from the edges to the centre, and on the other side as well. Then I proceed to the top lip but going from the centre to either side. I always find full coverage or matte lipsticks really intimidating to wear and apply because I have wonky lip lines and if I follow them exactly how they are, my lips will look really weird and uneven. To finish off, with bold colours like this in a creamy consistency, I always blot with a tissue to remove excess product so it doesn’t rub off too easy and also to make it last longer on the lips.

Overall: These bold shades are really stunning, they are pigmented and applies evenly. They feel creamy on the lips but looks semi-matte. They are not long-lasting lipsticks and were not marketed to be long-lasting, but they do leave a stain. Usually, I wouldn’t go for bold colours as such, but I actually quite like shade 800 and 820. Shade 760 would be quite cool if I am going to an even of something, but I would definitely team that up with a cool monochromatic outfit. At the end of the day, I just remove it with a makeup cleansing wipe (Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Wipes are amazing!), wash my lips with water and then apply a lip oil or a moisturising lip mask to nourish the lips.
