L’Oréal La Palette Ombrée in Cool

L’Oréal La Palette Ombrée

How I find it: I already love and use the L’Oréal La Palette Nude palette in Rose and Beige, I love the slim packaging with the long mirror and a duo-ended brush with an actual brush. The size of each shadow is really good – not too small and not too big. It is a nice size to go travel. This palette is a collection of cool-toned shades which is usually not my preference because I have yellow undertone skin and usually warm tones (rose, browns, golds) suit me more than cool tones (green and blues). Shades 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8 are matte shades. Shades 2, 6, 7, 9 and 10 are shimmery shades. Shade 5, 9 and 10 has almost a satin finish. There is a total of 5 light shades and 5 dark shades.

The quality

The quality of these eyeshadows is pretty good. They are pigmented, even the lighter shades are easy to pick up – either with fingers or with a brush. It doesn’t kick up much dust and it feels buttery soft as well. The brush that it comes with is not the best quality, but I would use the brush side if I do need to fix up on the go.

The shades

Shade 1 is a nice matte light beige, great for overall base colour and a non-shimmery highlight to the brow bone. Shade 2 is a shimmery brown-beige shade that is a nice overall shade and almost a transition shade. Shade 3 is a matte dusty pink that is also great as a transition shade or an overall base colour. Shade 4 is a matte dark brown which is good for the outer corner. Shade 5 is a matte cool-toned purple that almost looks a little duo-chrome. Shade 6 is a bright shimmery canary yellow with gold shimmers, awesome accent shade for a pop of colour. Shade 7 is a shimmery white, great for the inner corners or a highlight at the centre of the eyelids. Shade 8 is a matte greyish black for that smokey eye look or to smudge out that pencil eyeliner. Shade 9 is a shimmery black-blue shade with blue shimmer. Shade 10 is a shimmery black shade with silver shimmer.

Overall: I really like the quality of these L’Oréal La Palette eyeshadow palettes and this collection of cool-toned shades are something that doesn’t appear much often in my makeup collection. It’s a good thing that it will keep reminding me to try something a little different because I also love experimenting. The purple and yellow shades are definitely something that I want to play. The shadows wear well and they don’t fall out and doesn’t crease if I use an eye primer. However, the dark shadows do migrate to my undereye area just a little bit if I haven’t blended the shadows well enough.

I like that yellow shade – it could look cool on the lower lash-line with the purple on the lid!
