Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub

Where I got it: I have seen this new Clinique product on Instagram or Snapchat so I went to Farmers to check it out. They had 2 products in the City Block Purifying range – one is the cleansing gel and this is the other one. It also comes in 2 sizes – a 100ml tube for $67 and this 30ml tube for $15. I got this in the smaller size because it is cheaper, and It usually takes me forever to use up any full sized masks.

What I got: This is a 30ml tube of Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub.

How I find it: So you are supposed to cleanse your face, pat dry and apply an even layer of this mask onto the skin and avoid eye areas. The clay mask has a slight bluish-grey colour and dries down to a light grey. When the mask is dried down, I wet my face just a little and use my fingers to gently massage the scrub granules around my skin. If  you have sensitive skin, be cautious as the scrub granules are actually a little rough, so you might not need to scrub your skin.

Overall: I have been really interested in Charcoal products lately – for the skin, for oral hygiene and also for the body (taken internally). It is a very versatile thing that detoxes the body and cleanses out impurities. This clay mask and scrub is quite convenient, especially in this smaller tube. It dries down fast and cleanses my pores quite well. It doesn’t dry down to a tight-crackling finish like a mud mask would so it is not over-drying my skin, after light scrubbing and washing it off, my skin feels smooth and clean. I use this once a week when I need a good clean-out of my skin and it works wonders.
