Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

Where I got it: I got this from a makeup outlet sale recently for $12. It’s not a new foundation from Maybelline but I have been wanting to try this. Hopefully it’s not a dude or that has expired or anything. You can still buy these from pharmacies and Farmers, but more expensive that $12.

What I got: This is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Light 4. Revolutionary air-soft mousse provides perfecting coverage for 100% velvet-matte perfection, it is ideal for normal to oily skin. Fragrance-free, dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic – won’t clog pores, safe for sensitive skin.

How I find it: When I first swatched it on the back of my hand,  little bits came out of the foundation, but it was actually a bit of pilling of the product itself. Since it is a mousse texture, it is really soft and bouncy in the little pottle. It doesn’t smell off or feel weird in texture so I’m sure it is still good to use. The shade match is pretty good for my slightly yellow-undertoned skin. For the first time, I applied it I used my fingertips to get the product onto my face and used a beauty blender to blend it out – that was a big mistake because the pilling got really bad as the dabbing motion did not help with getting rid of the pilling at all. Instead, it fell off my face and went all over my vanity and sink which was a mess! Then I used my beauty blender directly into the foundation to pick it up and dab it onto my face and that works wonders. No more pilling up and the application was pretty smooth and blends really well.

Overall: Not too bad of a foundation. The finish was really smooth to the touch and quite matte, but not flat. I liked the feel of it on my face however it did not really last that long. I would recommend that if you have dry skin, stay away because it doesn’t really hydrate your skin at all and it might cling onto dry patches. If you have oily skin or combination skin, make sure you use a finishing powder and makeup spray to make sure it lasts longer without moving around. The finish is light to buildable medium, but I wouldn’t build it up too much just to avoid looking cakey and pilling up when you have too much product on the skin. I wouldn’t recommend using a brush to apply this, but use a sponge and either dip it directly in the pot or scoop a bit of product out onto the back of the hand and pick it up from there. I tried to pick it up with my fingertips and it just pills up on my face when I move it.
