Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate

Where I got it: I was sent this for review from Kiehl’s. You will be able to purchase this from the flagship boutique in Britomart, Smith and Caughey’s, Ballantynes and Kirkcaldie & Stains from 23rd May. RRP$109.00.

What I got: This is Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate in a 30ml bottle with a glass dropper. The all new Kiehl’s Dermatologist SOlutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate offers accelerated cell turnover, refined texture, improved skin tone eveness, and softer, more radiant skin.

To offer an innovative solution for customers seeking gentle and affordable at-home alternatives to chemical peels as well as medical partients desiring heightened efficacy of a dermatologist procedue, Kiehl’s chemists utilized Quinoa Husk Extract formulated with a Fruit Acids, Cactus Extract and Phytic Acid to develop Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate. This multi-benefit innovation offers a highly effective yet overnight anti-aging treatment for at home use and enhanced results and faster recovery when use with in-clinic peels.

The concentrate is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Apply 2-3 drops to clean skin every night before the appropriate serum and moisturiser.

How I find it: The bottle came with a normal screw cap and a clean glass dropper. After cleansing and applying my Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence, I apply my Paula’s Choice BHA liquid with a cotton pad, then wait for a few minutes before I apply about 3 drops of this Micro-Peel Concentrate all over my face (avoiding eye area). It is non-sticky and not greasy at all so I can pretty much apply my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and a good moisturiser. My skin soaks it all in without feeling greasy or sticky. I need to use a relatively heavier moisturiser because the BHA and AHA tend to dry out my skin just a little and when I wake up in the morning, my skin will feel super dry and dehydrated. So I make sure my skin has plenty to drink during the night.

Overall: I have been quite interested in AHA and BHA products lately which is chemical exfoliation. I love how you don’t need to manually scrub onto the skin and is highly effective as well. I am currently using Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid and it is amazing! It clears my blackheads, smooths little bumps on my face and reduced the number of breakouts I have during those time of the month. AHA exfoliants, which is what this Micro-Peel Concentrate helps to resurface dead skin cells to reveal smoother and radiant skin. With my oil-clogged pores sorted, I need to work on the luminosity and radiance of my skin so this comes in just perfectly. Some of you may think peels and acids are scary, but this one is really gentle and to be used nightly only, it works overnight to help slough off dead skin cells to help smooth out fine lines, dullness, etc. You must wear a sunscreen during the day to protect the skin because it can cause a bit of photo-sensitivity, but you should be wearing sunscreen on a daily basis anyway. I have not experienced any tingling sensation or burning sensation, or any redness as well. So far so good!
