Australis AC ON TOUR Cream

Where I got it: I was sent this as a pr sample. You can purchase Australis products from Farmers and leading pharmacies. This is RRP$27.50. This product has kicked up quite a bit of hype in the Australia and New Zealand area quite recently as it is almost a dupe or similar product as the ABH Contour Kit, but a fraction of the price. The kit also comes in Medium and it also comes as pressed powder instead of cream.

What I got: This is the Australis AC ON TOUR cream contouring and highlighting kit for light complexion. Australis AC ON TOUR highlighting and contouring kit cream is a six shade pallet designed toaccentuatee and compliment the natural curves of the face. The palette comes with a step by step guide to application as well as choosing the right shade for your skintone. Designed to be applied after foundation application, and before any powder, blush or bronzer, The formula blends easily with foundation for a perfectly contoured look. Use a foundation brush or sponge blending tool for best results.

How I find it: The palette is in a plastic case with a big mirror at the top. I love how the palette opens up fully so you can access the mirror very easily. I am just a little not used to using cream formulas in a palette where I can’t swirl my brush without worrying that I will mix colours into another pan if you know what I mean. I have been applying the contour shades with my Real Techniques Buffing brush. I pretty much just dab my brush into the product and apply it directly to the hollows of my cheeks, just under my cheekbones. And I like to use my fingertips for the highlighting shades. I usually prefer a shimmering highlighter, but if I am up for a fuller face of makeup, I will use this after my foundation to build up my face contour, then I will use a highlighting powder with a little bit more sheen/shimmer to make it really stand out. I would definitely use this on my forehead area where I don’t want to be too shiny with a shimmering highlighter!

There is a good range of contouring shades, but the first one is more like a foundation shade for me so I haven’t found much use in it. I have been using the 2 darker shades though. Sometimes I mix them, but most of the time I use the middle shade. I have been applying the contour shades with my Real Techniques Buffing brush. I pretty much just dab my brush into the product and apply it directly to the hollows of my cheeks, just under my cheekbones. It is really easy to blend and it doesn’t look patchy as well. Just need to build it up slowly instead of going in with a heavy hand.

The highlighter shades were a little intimidating, to be honest. I haven’t really used much matte highlighting shades, let alone cream highlighters. The lightest shade looks rather yellow and the middle one is quite neutral, the darker one looks rather pink in the undertones. After much experimenting, I prefer to use the middle to lighter shade and mix them together. The darkest highlighting shade just looks too pink for my skin tone – just doesn’t work on me unfortunately.

Overall: Initially I was really skeptical about cream products that come in a pan such as this. I have had a previous pan of cream concealer and highlight cream that comes in a similar packaging and they dried up pretty quickly and they were extremely hard to blend and was really patchy. The palette is made out of plastic and the size of the pans are quite reasonable, the shade range is quite good for fair/light skin tones. I tend to use the middle shades for both highlighting and contouring. Wear time for the contouring shades seems to last a lot longer than the highlighting shade mostly because they stand out a little bit more I guess. I have been experimenting with a small flat top brush to contour my nose which is getting quite good results I reckon. Pretty good for my first cream contouring and highlighting palette, I don’t think I need anymore at the moment, this is going to last me for a long time.
