Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask

Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration and you can purchase Kiehl’s is available from the flagship boutique in Britomart, Smith and Caughey’s, Ballantynes and Kirkcaldie & Stains. This one retails for $65.00 for 75ml. Available from 18th April.

What I got: This is a 75ml tub of Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask. Knowing that 70% of women in the US, 64% in Japan, 62% in France and 46% in China cite dullness as a top skincare concern, Kiehl’s chemists have leveraged their expertise in highly efficacious ingredients to deliver the New Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. The formula works as an “instant facial” by brightening and energizing the look of dull, fatigued skin to restore a healthy, rosy appearance. Formulated with ingredients like Cranberry and Turmeric, this invigorating facial masque helps visibly improve the overall look of skin, while crushed Cranberry seeds within the formula gently exfoliate for a smoother, brighter and illuminated complexion.

Turmeric Extract is part of the ginger family. It has been traditionally used as a botanical supplement in Ayuverdic, Chinese and Egyptian traditional medicines. It has been applied in different forms to help heal or soothe the skin. This ingredient has also been used for centuries as a natural cleanser to detox the skin from impurities and is known to have strong antioxidant, anti-septic and sebum balancing properties.

Cranberry is a very rich source of antioxidants and the crushed seeds helps to gently exfoliate, leaving the skin feeling renewed and looking energized and radiant.

How I find it: I tried this mask out right away that night and when I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised with the texture and the cranberry seeds in the tub. It almost looks like something you get from Lush. The kaolin-based mask is yellow tinted from the turmeric and there are heaps of cranberry seeds. I initially used my fingers to get the product out, but since it is rather thick, I used a plastic spatula to scoop it out and apply directly onto my face. I went with a thin layer for my first application, and a thicker layer when I tried it for the second time. Obviously, the thicker it is the longer it took to dry, but it didn’t take too long anyway. The mask doesn’t dry to a cracking clay layer so it doesn’t over dry the skin. Removal is much easier with a washcloth of a facial sponge to help remove the seeds, otherwise, you will be at the sink for a long time trying to pick the seeds out. My face immediately felt refreshed and clarified.

Overall: This mask is quite pleasant to use and refreshes my skin after washing off. The cranberry seeds are really gentle exfoliants that adds a kick to brightening the skin – removes dead skin cells for that fresh skin look and feel. The application is easy with either fingertips or a face brush (I like to use a brush to avoid getting products under my nails), and I really recommend removing with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Otherwise, you will be at the sink for a long time trying to scratch all those seeds that are stuck to your skin. The clay base is really good which I think helps draw out impurities as well so that’s a bonus for my congested skin! I love the smell of this mask and it just refreshes my mind too. Would definitely recommend this for oily skin, combination skin and normal skin as it doesn’t overly dry out my cheeks.

I know that Kiehl’s has also got another new mask – Cilantro & Orange Pollutant Defending Mask which I might check out when that comes out!
