Q-depot haul

Where I got it: I was approached by Q-depot to be a part of their bloggers campaign where they offer a flat rate % discount for all products on their website, regardless of brands. However, you don’t get to use any discount codes or use your discounts on top of already discounted prices. So I joined and ordered some products I’ve had my yes on. I ordered on 7/2/16 and received this on 10/3/16. Shipping was directly from Korea, but still it took just over a month to come to me which  was a little disappointing. I had to email customer service to chase it up, but when I did, the parcel arrived on the next day. Regardless, the parcel was packaged neatly and secure, products in there were in great condition (except for the Skinfood Water Colour Tint which has a bit of a leaky situation).

What I got: I was going for some new Korean lip products this time and I also picked up a face spray while I’m at it. I got a total of 4 lip products, a facial spray and I was given an eye shadow as a gift along with other skincare samples.

Skinfood Vita Color Tint Lip Oil in OR1/OR2. USD$15.79.

These lip oils are really nice! Initially, when I applied, I thought they were a little sticky, unlike the really smooth oil texture that the YSL Tint-in-Oil has, but once it is applied, I press my lips together, they feel almost gel-like, but not sticky at all! Very cushiony and not slippery as well. It does have a really nice sweet scent which can get into my mouth a little because of its texture, it can move easier than a lipstick can. I personally love the OR1 shade which on the wand before application looks bright orange, but a few minutes after application it turns into this beautiful pinky orange that is not too out there. It gives my lips a really natural pink colour with a nice sheen of gloss. OR2 is a more red-toned so after application, it can look quite red on the lips. These stay on quite well if you don’t wipe or move them. Of course, you will need to reapply after eating and drinking. However, it does leave a really natural and pigmented tint on the lips! Does not dry out my lips at all. Love this lip oil.

Skinfood Water Color Tint in 3 Orange. USD$7.69.

This Water Color Tint by Skinfood is quite pretty. It is quite small in size and looks almost like Benetint by Benefit. It has a flat applicator and the product inside is quite watery, hence the name water color. It gives a really solid tint even only after wearing it for less than a minute and wiping it off (when I was swatching). It has a nice pink tint and looks slightly glossy – watery glossy. The glossiness wears off quite fast and the stain on the lips stays quite nice. It tends to cling to the inside of my lips and it can go with a bit of layering. This will be a great lip tint to use for ombre lip looks to easily create that bitten-lips look – very popular in Korea.

Mizon Color Lip Tint Pack in Real Orange. USD$16.33.

You may have seen this trend on Facebook beauty pages or Instagram, where you apply this lip tint gel, let it dry and peel off for a very long-lasting tint. This is one of the many brands that does one of those. It is called a Lip Tint Pack (Korean and Japanese skincare brands likes to use the word ‘pack’ for masks and everything). This is literally like apply a clear gel which is pretty thick and feels like PVA glue on my lips! I’ve had trouble with the first try on my lips where it is quite hard to apply with the plastic applicator which is not precise at all. I don’t think I have applied a thick enough layer to effectively remove the pack in one go and there were little bits left near the inside of my lips.

So I have a couple of tips to use these products:

1. Do this pretty much at the end of your makeup routine (even though you need to wait for about 10-15 minutes for it to dry), because once you have the product on your lips – DO NOT PRESS THEM TOGETHER. You will ruin the half-dried product and end up in a mess!

2. Apply a nice even thick-ish layer (not too thick otherwise it will take forever to dry) with a lip brush. Squeeze the product onto the lips and spread with a lip brush. Once it dries, it will leave a rather long-lasting stain that is quite hard to remove even with oil-based makeup remover

3. Wait until it is fully dried before peeling, otherwise, you will have bits that are still wet and the end result will be really patchy. So make sure you have time to spare to use this.

4. Apply a lip balm of gloss over this as it tends to make your lips a little dry – I suppose from the peeling off gesture.

5. Remove with an oil-based makeup remover suitable for eyes and lips. Unfortunately most of the time it doesn’t really remove it totally, you will need to let it just wear out.

Etude House Dust Cut Facial Mist 150ml for USD$16.09.

I have been looking for a facial mist lately for hydration and just overall refreshment whenever I need to. I have bought the Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix Mist, but would like to look for cheaper alternatives as well. This one by Etude House is quite nice. There is a very very light scent and it feels cool on the skin. It sprays a fine mist and falls softly without spitting. I love to apply this as a makeup setting spray or as a hydrating spray for the face.

Overall: Loved all the products except for the tint pack just because it is quite a hassle to use and the results were not that amazing. I love being able to buy Korean skincare/makeup products easily as they are of really good quality, they have really nice packaging and are usually very affordable! Shopping on Q-depot was a breeze but shipping was a little less than desired. I will make another other soon and let’s see if the next order will go smoothly!
