L’Oréal Paris The Super Star Issue

False Lash SuperStar Mascara (RRP $29.99). L’Oréal Paris introduces False Lash Superstar, the first mascara that takes lashes to the heights of glory. Two synergic steps: volumise your lashes, then stretch them to the extreme. Step 1: AUDACIOUS VOLUME A major innovation of L’Oréal Paris, this super-sizing primer covers and thickens each lash to build audacious volume. Step 2: EXTREME LENGTH Ultra-black, this formula is applied on top of the primer and coats it perfectly. Lashes are stretched to the extreme and dressed in the most intense black.

I have always loved L’Oréal mascaras, especially their Telescopic one – my HOLY GRAIL for curl hold, staying power, definition and volume. Anyway, this mascara claims to volumise with the primer, then lengthen with the mascara. The primer has a smaller straight want with white primer formula. I curl my lashes, then apply a good lashing of the primer, wait for it to dry and then apply 2 coats of the mascara. It definitely gives volume, but at the same time, it kind of weighs my lashes down. I have quite weak and sparse lashes, but the volumizing is great, but my curls pretty much drop down half way when I apply the mascara. Unfortunately, this is also no waterproof, but usually, L’Oréal will have a waterproof version later on so I’m just a little on the fence about this one. I’ll probably stick with my Telescopic mascara for now…

False Lash SuperStar Mascara

SuperLiner SuperStar (RRP $28.99). L’Oréal Paris introduces the designer eyeliner with a super-flexible tip, following the eyelid’s shape in one single movement. The perfect compliment to the False Lash Superstar mascara. The secret is the divine, deep black, shiny finish captured in the design of the tip: INKWELL The ink reservoir releases ink gradually as you draw the line, for perfect control. FLEXIBLE SYSTEM Like a calligraphy pen, the tip adjusts to any movement to adapt to the curves and the thickness of the line.

I love using liquid eyeliners and in felt-tip applicator as well. They are easy to control, doesn’t drag and doesn’t skip. The ink is released evenly and gradually so I don’t need to worry about re-dipping. First time swatching this on the back of my hand was really gorgeous – pigmented, even and sharp line, and really intense black. Takes a few moments to absolutely dry down, but once it dries it’s pretty long-lasting. However, first time using this on my eyes, I think I either have eye shadow or oily lids, the pigment was not so intense and I seemed to have a hard time drawing a sharp line. It was a little dragging and faded, but the tip was firm but flexible which I really like. Second time round, I apply the eyeliner first on primed eyelids, then eye shadow over it and I use the liner again to intensify the line and it works wonders! The line was crisp and sharp, it was even pigmentation and intense black liner. Has a slightly shiny finish that I really like.

Colour Riche La Palette in Beige and Rose (RRP$35.99). L’Oréal Paris presents Colour Riche La Palette Nude. Discover the ultimate makeup designer tool and reinvent the nude eye look. With the wave of a brush, you are the artist. Highlight, sculpt and blend: the dual-tip brush lets you create your signature nude eye look with ease. Each Colour Riche La Palette contains 10 exclusive shades paired with a dual-sided foam applicator and brush. The large mirror allows the most precise application. From pink to chocolate, create an infinite number of nude looks, from the most minimalist and transparent look to the most sophisticated and smouldering look.

I don’t usually wear eye shadows, and when I do it is mostly subtle and neutral to enhance my features. Therefore, I love these 2 palettes! Both palettes are very wearable on a daily basis and you don’t even need to be a makeup pro to mix up these colours. There are matte and shimmering shades that you can use to create a nice wash of colour or a really sexy smokey eye look for the evening. After priming, I love using a light matte shade all over my lids, then a light shimmering shade to concentrate on my upper eye lid area, use a darker shade on the outer ends. I hardly have any crease so I don’t really do crease colour. I then use the same light shimmering shade on my lower lash line to brighten up the area below. I have the Naked 2 Palette and it is very similar shades in here. The texture is really smooth and I do feel that the shimmering shades a much more pigmented than the matte shades so you need to apply more to get the same intensity. The formula is not amazingly pigmented or buttery in texture, you do have to build up the colour for more intensity. However, that is much more easy to control if you are not a makeup pro (like me). Beige is more golds, browns, champagne and a matte black. Rose has rose golds, nudes, pinky nudes and a beautiful dark mauve.

Infallible Matte Lip in 008 I Gotta Feeling

Overall: My favourites from the collection would be the Eye Shadow Palettes and the Infallible Matte Lips! The colour range in the eye shadow palette means that for someone who likes subtle shades that are not too smokey can wear this on a daily basis, and for people who want a more smokey look for the night can also use this too! The texture and formula of the eyeshadows are really good. Compact and versatile! The innovative Infallible Matte Lips are simply amazing. I love all the shades especially 008 I Gotta Feeling! The powder formula goes on the lips easily without streaks, fly-offs or bunching up. I would recommend using a lip balm underneath – one that is not too slippery or oily. I love using 2 shades to create an interesting ombre effect without feeling that I have so much product on my lips. The mascara and eyeliner were little disappointing, to be honest. The eyeliner doesn’t apply properly if you have eyeshadow or skin that is slightly oily. It tends to transfer at the end of the day as well. The mascara is great after application, but this also melted to my undereye area and it didn’t really hold up my curls. I’m sticking with my Telescopic one from L’Oréal.
