Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer

Where I got it: I bought this from Shampoo & Things at Sylvia Park for $34.00. You can get this from all Rodney Wayne and Shampoo and Things stores.

What I got: This is a 170ml bottle of Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express PrimerHeat protectant hair primer is your first step for any style! This priming spray cuts blow dry time, protects from heat up to 450 degrees, helps reduce breakage and provides 24-hour lasting volume without weighing hair down. Hair is left 3x stronger and healthier and perfectly primed for any other styling products. Designed to reduce blow drying time, the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer by Redken boasts a unique anti-breakage formula which works to protect hair up to 450° F heat. It repairs the hair from inside out, meaning your locks will be 3 times stronger and will boast lasting volume. This spray also gives the hair a ‘thermal blanket’ of flexible silicone resin which shields from heat for longer. A must have product for healthy, salon perfect hair.

How I find it: After towel drying my hair, shake the bottle up to mix up the dual-phase, then a couple of sprays of this primer into my hair before I blow dry it. The primer feels light on my damp hair and while blow drying, but be careful not to apply too much as it can give your hair this gritty feeling and makes your hair a bit easy to be tangled. It is also most a texturising spray which gives it a big of volume too due to the gritty feeling. Blow-drying is faster but I can’t seem to get a really smooth and tamed finish on the hair. Rather it gets a little poofy and looking a little dry. Then I will need to apply a de-frizzing serum or cream afterwards to tame it.

Overall: I have seen some bad reviews of this primer after I have bought it to see how others feel about it. Most people complain about the granny smell, but I don’t find it smelling bad at all. No issues in the scent department. However, I really don’t like how it gives that gritty feel to my fingers so I have to be really careful not to apply too much. But if I don’t apply evenly to my hair, I feel that it is not providing protection from heat evenly?? However, the fact that is does make blow drying faster is a plus. I will continue to use this most probably with a lightweight hair serum so I can get a nice smooth finish with a bit of control.
