Jessup Makeup brushes (2)

Where I got it: After purchasing the first set of Jessup Kabuki brushes, I wanted some fluffy powder brushes and when I saw these beautiful white bristle ones, I couldn’t resist and I ordered them on ebay. Got these for NZD$21.34 including shipping. Which works out to be about $4.30 per brush.

What I got: Honestly, I’m not even sure if these are Jessup brushes, I don’t seem to see these on reviews much. However, I don’t really mind because they are pretty cheap and they look amazing! The set has 5 brushes – 3 of them natural goat hairs and the 2 other are synthetic bristles. They come in a sturdy black handle with a gold barrel.

How I find it:

01 Foundation. Hair type: Synthetic hair. Application of emollient and water-based foundations, cheek colour, or skin treatments.  Obviously a liquid foundation brush that I would use when I can be bothered. I like to use either my fingers or a beauty blender. So I think 80% chance, I will use this to apply a face mask – clay or gel type.

02 Cream Foundation. Hair type: Wool. Applying, blending or highlighting the eye and face with powder products. Ok, first thing I noticed about these ‘wool’ brushes are they stink! They smell like an animal farm! I washed it with cleansing oil, shampoo and baby shampoo 3 times to get some of the stench out. I cannot get it out entirely and I think that is what it smells like and your just need to stick with it. Anyway, this small fluffy brush is good for blending in powder blushes, highlighters and even bronzers.

04 Shade. Hair type: Synthetic hair. Apply colors onto small areas.  This brushes doesn’t seem like something I would use at all. It is too small for foundation, too big for my eyes, wrong shape for blushes, bronzers and highlighters. I can’t think of anyways I can use this brush to be honest. I have seen people use this to apply an eyeshadow base, but honestly, I would just use my fingertips to apply an eyeshadow base. So let me know how you use it and I’ll give it a try.

05 Bronzer. Hair type: Wool. Large fluffed dome with rounded tip. Application of loose or pressed powder products. Alright, this is my favourite brush out of the 5 and it is suppose to be a bronzer brush.

06 Cheek. Hair type: Wool. Extra large, dense, wide paddle with fluffed, double chisel head. Applying and blending powder products.  I have not yet found good use with this brush, but I think this would be great with a bronzer or blush.

Overall: As much as I love the first set of Jessup kabuki brushes I bought, these were not as amazing as they were. First of all, the smell is really hard to bear with, even with a couple times washing it. Secondly, the wool brushes were not very soft but in comparison to how much they were, I suppose I shouldn’t expect too much. However, the brushes looks so pretty and does the job. At the prices they are at, I do not regret purchasing these.
