Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20

Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration. This is available from authorised Dermalogica skin centres and www.dermalogica.co.nz. RRP $79.00.

What I got: This is a tube of Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20 in MediumOffering three key functions in one, Dermalogica’s version of the BB cream combines skin health benefits, broad spectrum sun protection and a silky wash of natural-looking coverage to reveal luminous skin. This versatile tinted moisturiser with SPF20 has been reformulated for improved wearability with a silkier and smoother texture, and more universal pigment shades. The power or pearls have been unlocked with the inclusion of Hydrolyzed Pearl Powder, an ingredient rich in amino acids that has been used for centuries by the East to promote radiant beauty and health. “The inclusion of Hydrolyzed Pearl Powder in the Sheer Tint is one of the reasons why skin literally glows and looks luminous when wearing it.  Hydrolyzed Pearl Powder is rich in amino acids, calcium, sugars and proteins, which all help stimulate cell regeneration. It also increases hydration, reduces excess melanin production, and inhibits glycation which leads to skin ageing. The oil-free formula hydrates the skin with antioxidant Olive Fruit and Walnut Seed extracts, skin-conditioning silicone Dimethicone to protect and reinforce barrier lipids, and Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B-5) to aid in skin repair. Octinoxate and Zinc Oxide are chemical and physical sunscreens that provide optimum UVA and UVB protection, resulting in an SPF20. Iron Oxide, a natural mineral in the formula, creates the sheer colour-wash. Blurring the lines between skin care and makeup perfectly.

How I find it: After cleansing and toning, I apply my serums or essences then I put this on as a tinted moisturiser. I don’t even need a highlighter because this Sheer Tint gives me the most natural glow – and with sunscreen it is simply the best if you are running out of time to get out the door. The shade medium suits my skin, but I think I could mix it up with Light to get the perfect shade. I do use a powder over areas where I usually get quite oily (little bit on the nose, on my forehead and on my chin).

Overall: This tinted moisturiser packs quite a good sheer to medium coverage, with pearl powder, it brings out a soft glow on the skin. However, usually people with large pores would stay away from shimmery products and reach for the mattifying powder straight away. This Sheer Tint did not accentuate pores or fine lines.
