Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Base Eclat

Where I got it: I got this at a Makeup Forever counter in Hong Kong while I was there for a holiday. It was HKD $370 which is about NZD $66 at an exchange rate of 5.6. Unfortunately, they don’t have a shop or counter in New Zealand!

What I got: This is a 30ml tube of Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Base Eclat in 7 Blue.

STEP 1 is the range of skin equalizers developed to refine, smooth and even out. Our exclusive Equalizer Complex delivers 3 key actions:

– APPLICATION : makeup goes on seamlessly
– RESULT : optimized color & finish
– WEAR: longer staying power

STEP 1 also comes in: Mattifying Primer, Smoothing Primer, Nourishing Primer, Redness Correcting Primer, and Radiant Primers: 6. Cool Pink: for  yellow fair skin; 7. Blue: for yellow red fair skin; 8. Peach: for  fair skin; 9. Yellow: for tanned skin; 10. Caramel: for dark skin; 11. Mauve: for yellow dark skin. Radiant Primers instantly color correct according to skin tone giving what looks like new bare skin. These tailored equalizers transform radiance levels and bring more hydration and light to the face. Formulated with our blend of Spectraflex® pigments to neutralize imperfections and banish dullness, Radiant Primers give immediate radiance and even skin tone for a flawless makeup all day long.

How I find it: I apply this after my moisturiser with my fingertips. This does not contain SPF so I either apply sunscreen before this or apply a foundation or BB cream with SPF. I apply this all over my face to brighten and counteract the redness from my breakouts. After applying this makeup base I can apply my usual face makeup directly without any downtime. Sometimes I would use this without any foundation, just a finishing powder with or without coverage.

Overall: At the counter when I was talking to the makeup artist at the Makeup Forever counter, I was sure I was going to be recommended the green base when I said I need something to counteract my redness. But he recommended this pale blue instead. He tried it on the back of my hand and I was impressedwith the results! It brightened my skin and I was instantly sold! I love the effect that this primer does and how it feels on my skin! It brightens my overall skintone without making it look like I’ve got a white mask on or any shimmers at all! Doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin so it doesn’t make me feel like I’m caking up my face. This would be perfect for those who have medium to pale skin that has redness and wants overall brightening of the skin without having a white cast over the skin.

I know! I wish they come to New Zealand. I need to get this overseas or online!
