L’Oréal Preference Wild Ombre No 102

Where I got it : I was sent this from nzgirl as part of the Influencer Review Program. These are available from supermarkets, Farmers, leading pharmacies, etc. for RRP$17.99.

What I got: This is a box of L’Oreal Preference Wild Ombre Kit in No. 102. It is an at-home permanent hair color kit for an ombre effect. The kit includes a bottle of developer, a powder activator, a tube of color cream, a small bottle of conditioning shampoo, a special brush, a pair of black gloves and an instruction leaflet.

How I find it: **It recommends doing a patch test for sensitivity** Mix the powder and color cream into the developer cream bottle, shake well. Split hair into 2 sections with hair clips. I squeeze a good amount onto the special brush and apply directly unwashed, dry hair working down starting from chin length. The formula doesn’t run from the brush and it was quite easy to apply. My hair is shoulder length therefore I didn’t manage to use the entire bottle. I then wait for 20 minutes for the dye to develope (recommends to wait for 25-45 minutes). After 20 minutes, I stepped into the shower and rinsed off my hair. Apply the conditioning shampoo, work into lather and rinse off.

Overall: The brush and formula is very easy to use. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I was a little worried about how light my hair would go with the ombre effect if I let this develop too long so I washed it out after 20 minutes. The effects were not as strong as the box has shown but that since everyone’s hair is different, the results will be different. My hair is naturally dark brown instead of black, so I have light brown ends. The hardest part of this ombre kit is to control where the ombre starts and application to the back of the head. I wanted the ombre to start from the ear/chin down using the brush vertically instead of horizontally so the results are more natural. After using the kit, my hair feels soft and doesn’t feel damaged at all. I would probably do this again, but I would choose a less intense kit.
