Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser

Where I got it: I got this from the NZ Beauty Review Beauty Vault a while ago. This retails for about $10 and I used 160 review points in exchange for it. You can get this from supermarkets and leading pharmacies nationwide.

What I got: This is a 198ml tube of Neutrogena’s Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser. It contains Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids along with microbeads to visibly reduce the appearance of pores and refines the skin. Alpha Hyroxy acid removes dead skin cells which Beta Hydroxy acids cuts through the oil and gets deep down to the pore to clean them up. The microbeads also helps to do a gentle exfoliation.

How I find it: After removing all my makeup (recently using Fancl’s Cleansing Oil), then with damp hands, I squeeze about a 1cm diameter of this cleanser my palms, work it into a lather, then massage all over my skin. Avoiding the eye area and focusing on my nose and forehead where I think I need most exfoliating. The micro-beads are really gentle and does not irritate my skin. The cleanser has a chemical scent to it which is quite strong, but will fade after washing off. After rinsing off, the skin feels smooth, but can also dry out quite fast. So you’ve got to follow up with your usual skincare routine after patting dry.

Overall: I have used this pore refining cleanser ages ago and I loved it. I don’t know if this is a new formula or that they are just re-marketing this product but I’m glad I could get this here easily. I saw the toner from this range at the supermarket, but it was quite heavy on alcohol so I didn’t buy it. I do remember they used to have a moisturiser and a cooling mask, but they probably aren’t doing those anymore… Sad, because I quite liked them. So, this cleanser feels great on the skin and cleanses very well. I wouldn’t use this with my Clarisonic because it may get too rough and I don’t like those beads getting into my brush heads.

I have also got the Daily Cleanser from the Pore Refining range, and that is more of a foaming face wash if you are not into exfoliating cleansers! Check it out here.
