Where I got it: I was sent this from Linden Leaves as part of their online ambassador program (check out my previous post here). You can purchase Linden Leaves products from them Parnell shop, online and selected pharmacies. Retails for $34.99.

What I got: This is a 55ml tube of Moisture Replenishing Masque with organic white tea and chamomileThis is nature’s luxury in a tube for sensitive and/or dry skin. We’ve added Chamomile Extract to soothe and reduce puffiness that can come with having dry and sensitive skin and the key ingredient of Organic White Tea will boost your skin, protecting it from the harsh environment. This masque doesn’t harden or feel dry and best results can be seen when you leave it overnight – smooth and happy skin in the morning! Also contains fennel oil to rejuvenate and green tea for its anti oxidant properties.

Linden Leaves Moisture Replenishing Masque

How I find it: At the first try, I decided to use this as an overnight mask. So after cleansing, I squeeze a conservative amount of this mask onto my palm and apply with fingertips all over my face. The gel consistency of the mask is not thick at all so once applied, the mask seems to melt onto the skin and get absorbed instantly (I think my skin was really dehydrated after cleansing). Within a few seconds, I felt that the mask has created a film over my skin and dried. It feels like my face has set and cannot move! It felt like it made my skin drier than before and I was worried. I didn’t put anything over the mask and went to sleep hoping for the best. When I woke up for the first time (2hrs later because of breastfeeding duty), I couldn’t feel the film over my skin anymore, but my skin still feels a little bit dry. After another 2hrs of sleep, I checked again and it felt the same. However my face did not look oily at all (if the mask is drying out my skin, my skin would over-produce sebum and make my skin super oily). After another 2hrs of sleep I woke up and washed my face. With a bit of water, my skin felt a bit slippery like I am washing of a thin layer of gel. My skin felt pretty average.

At second try, I applied this as an overnight mask again and used a thicker layer on the skin. Same results as the first try so a thicker layer makes no difference. However, with the second try (within a week) I did feel my skin is more hydrated. I guess the immediate feeling was normal and didn’t affect how the mask works.

At third try, I used it as a mask and washed off after 10 minutes. I like it as a mask because I don’t really like the film on the face feeling making my face feeling tight.

Overall: I checked with the people at Linden Leaves and they have confirmed that the film on the skin effect is normal and it does not affect the efficacy of the mask. Unlike traditional masks, the texture and feel is very different – so don’t worry about it, it is not drying your skin out. With continuous use, the moisturising effects will be noticeable. I do however prefer to us it as a 10-15 minute mask instead of an overnight mask because my pores tends to get clogged easily and I like my pores to be able to breath during the night.
