Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Where I got it: I got this from the Clinique.com shipped to my doorstep with Youshop for NZD$26.75, but I had a 50% off code as a welcome back offer so shipping was only NZD$13.38. On the website this is USD$28.50, so with conversion, I was charged NZD$34.02. So this cost me a total of $47.40. Samples I got: Almost Lipstick Mini in Black Honey and a Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum Mini, and a 5-Piece Online Bonus pack containing a Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief mini, Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream mini, Lash Doubling Mascara mini and a Different Lipstick in A Different Grape (full size). So here is a little story.. I was suppose to get a Clinique Happy Fragrance Mini, Calyx Natural Spray Try-Me-Vial as well but when I opened the box (which was opened by Youshop warehouse to check contents), I only had the orange cap of the Clinique Happy Fragrance, and the Calyx Natural Spray Try-Me-Vial was nowhere to be found. I am not sure if it was not packed by Clinique or it was removed when Youshop at the warehouse. I wasn’t that impressed. Nonetheless, the whole process from when the parcel was received at the US Youshop warehouse, to payment of the shipping, to delivery to my house was fast, easy and fuss-free.

What I got: This is a 125ml tub of Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. This is a lightweight makeup remover that quickly dissolves tenacious eye and face makeups, sunscreens.  It transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Non-greasy. Non-drying. Ophthalmologist Tested. For all skin types.

How I find it: The cleansing balm is white in colour and looks like a wax candle in a tub. Because it is winter in New Zealand at the moment, the balm stays pretty solid and it was quite hard to get a decent amount in the first go. I had to rub my fingers with some pressure around the balm to slightly melt it, then I smear what I can get onto my dry face (with makeup on). I will try it with a spatula next time. I don’t think you need too much unless you are wearing long-wearing foundation and waterproof mascara. I was wearing the Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation, liquid eye liner, Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade and L’Oreal Waterproof Butterfly mascara when I tried this for the first time. I massaged the balm all over my face, lashes, brows, etc. gently for about a minute then rinse off with warm water. It removed all traces of my makeup easily I was super impressed! The L’Oreal waterproof mascara is usually really hard to remove, and this cleansing balm removed it with minimal pressure! I then cleansed my face with my usual cleanser (I always double cleanse) and used a wipe-off alcohol free toner – no traces of makeup on my face AT ALL. Overall: Love this cleansing balm! It is super effective, gentle and feels oh-so-soft on the skin! It melts away makeup so effectively and you don’t even need to rub hard at all! Just make sure you use it on dry skin and use a decent amount. This is suitable for all skin types from dry to oily skin because it does not over-dry your skin, nor does it leave a greasy film when you wash it off.
