What I got: I was sent the Whole Grain box. It is one of Memebox Special Editions, curated for special themes with best K-beatuy items. Whole Grain box contains products that are made of extracts of whole grains. Whole grains will leave skin leaving soft, smooth and radiant. Rich in vitamins A and E, whole grains are full of antioxidants that promote cell respiration and also stimulate the production of anti-inflammatory compounds, slowing down the aging process.

What is in here:

Grinif Nature Oatmeal Scrub Bar 130g ($12): This bar soap is pretty big for a soap that is for the face! On to top there is a gritty texture, the middle is the majority of the soap base, then the bottom is concentrated with the irregular shaped bits. This scrub bar is 100% organic and handmade. It contains mung beans, rice bran, Oatmeal, red beans, and jojoba oil to nourish and cleanse the skin. I put the bar under warm running water to lather up, then I massage the lather to my face as a facial soap. Rinse off with cold water to close up pores. The soap is quite slippery and it does need a bit of washing to get rid of the slippery feeling. After washing off, my skin does feel clean but also a little dry so I immediately follow with my skincare routine.

Herbclinic Rice Bran Powder 80g ($5): At first I thought this was an edible powder, but it is actually designed to be used by mixing either rice bran, brown rice or black bean powder and milk to make a face mask. This stuff smells just like Weetbix and looks just like crushed Weetbix! So yummy. The image below is just the rice bran powder mixed with water. The paste consistency I made is rather dry and a bit hard to spread, not to mention not enough for the entire face. However, I made a decent batch after that and the mask washes off easily after 15-20 mins leaving my skin soft and smooth. Calmed some of my redness as well!

 

Purebees Galactomyces 100% 50ml ($15): This little clear plastic bottle boasts to have 100% Galactomyces which I have no idea what it is. But after some research, it is one of the main active ingredients in the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. Where the SK-II FTE has only 80%, this has 100% and obviously much more affordable. Galactomyces is suppose to lock in moisture on the skin to keep it hydrated. The consistency of this essence is exactly like water – in terms of colour, texture and smell (no scent at all). So after washing my face, the card says you only need 1-2 drops, but since the consistency is like water, 1-2 drops will not spread all over my face. I use about 3-4 drops on my palms then press it against my face. I also use extra drops to my cheeks and forehead area. Not very moisturising but I probably need to use it continuously to see results. I am using the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence at the moment so I can do a comparison later.

Galactomyces 80 Eye Cream 50ml ($20): This is a huge tube of eye cream! It has a creamy white texture from the tube. This eye cream contains 80% Galactomyces which is from the same brand as the essence above. I only squeeze a very small size and dab it under my eyes. The cream is moisturising and not too thick. Not sticky and not oily. It feels just like your normal eye cream, will need consistent use to see full benefits, but this tube will last me a lifetime.

Purederm Anti-stress Heat Therapy Mask Oatmeal 150ml ($12): This self-heating mask looks like a hair product in its packaging. As per the instructions in the card, you apply the mask directly on damp skin avoiding eye and lip area (damp skin, not dripping wet – I have learned the hard way. It will run and burn your eyes and lips). The mask will turn into a milky colour and look almost oily. After about a minute, it turns clear (like shown in the image below). The heat reduces after about a minute and that’s when the nourishment penetration into the skin. After 15 minutes I rinse it off and pat dry. After first use, I don’t see or feel amazing results. I guess I could use it about 2-3 times a week to see some results. Oh, by the way the mask has a rather strong scent to it which some may not like.

Purederm Rice Bran Collagen Mask 18ml x 2 ($5): This is a sheet paper mask and I know that many Caucasians are not so familiar with sheet masks but it is super popular in Asia. They pack a lot of mask essence in each mask, the sheets help seal in the essence for the skin to absorb instead of it evaporating, it is also hygienic and convenient as they are single use and disposed of after use. This mask is made of 100% natural pulp and rich in rice bran extract, plant collagen and Vitamin E to brighten and smooth complexion. After washing my face, I spread this mask over my face and wait for 15 minutes to remove. The instructions says no washing off necessary but I always do as my pores are prone to being blocked if there is too much product on my skin. There is adequate amount of essence in each mask and there is a slight floral scent to it. The cutting of the mask suits me quite well and the thickness of the mask is just right. After 15 minutes, I remove the mask and rinse off my face. My face feels smooth and plump.

Purederm Daily Moisturising Hand Mask 1 pair ($7): I have tried foot masks before but not hand masks. One pack contains 2 hand masks which are like gloves. After washing my hands, dry it and pop on these gloves and remove after 20 minutes. Rinsing is not required, you can just rub it into the skin like a hand lotion but I have a baby to handle so I want my hands as clean as possible. The scent of the hand mask is very floral and quite strong. It lingers just a little. The plastic outside and fabric inside glove contains a good amount of hand cream essence that will not spill out from the gloves. The gloves remain dry on the outside allowing you to do other stuff while waiting (but not play with your touch screen phone :<).

Purederm Invigorating Foot Scrub Walnut 25ml ($4): This contains a good 25ml of foot scrub with crushed walnut shells and apricot seeds. After washing the skin, dry off and apply the entire sachet of this foot scrub to my feet massaging and concentrating on my heels and balls of my foot where I have harder skin, dead skin and any callouse skin. I would also bring it up to my calves and knees. The granules are rather gentle but it still provides good exfoliation.

Overall: I love the value for money that you get in all the Memeboxes (total value of USD$80 only costs you USD$29.99). The full sized products and the interesting products that I have not tried before and the different types of boxes they have to offer. I also love the fact that they are not a subscription service so I don’t have to feel locked in to a monthly payment to something that I don’t like or don’t feel like getting. The shipping is fast and very secure, packaging of each box is really safe and the products are well protected. Memebox runs boxes with a single brand from time to time like Missha, IOPE, etc. which is fantastic!
