Antipodes Performance Plus Mineral Foundation with SPF17 in Light Yellow 02 and Kabuki Brush

Katrina and Brooke from Antipodes were in Auckland (from Wellington) earlier last week so they have invited a couple of bloggers for some drinks chats at Hotel Debrett in town. It was actually my first time there and what a lovely place to be. Great food too – those chunky chips are soooooo good!

A great catch up with people of the company and fellow bloggers (even though it was a small number of us, but I do get to meet new people and get up to date with how everyone is doing). The girls also bought in heaps of Antipodes products for us to test and try on our hands, face, body, etc.! There are some products that I already love (Grace Cream Cleanser, Delight Hand Cream and the Joyous Serum) and some new products that I’ve been wanting to try (Julet cleanser, Grapeseed Butter Cleanser, Apostle Brightening Serum and the Mineral Foundation).

What I got: From the goodie bag, I have a the limited edition Anti-aging Mini Duo (products in this set has been reviewed here and here), a Grapeseed Butter Cleanser (woohoo!), the Performance Plus Mineral Foundation with SPF17 in Light Yellow 02 and a Kabuki brush. This post, I will review the Mineral Foundation (11g) RRP$46.90 with the Kabuki brush RRP$39.00. It also comes in Pale Pink 01, Medium Beige 03 and Tan 04. Achieve great coverage with this mineral foundation from nature that bestows a healthy, flawless appearance of a soft and dewy second skin. This hydrating, skin-perfect foundation features revolutionary Vinanza Performance Plus, an antioxidant-packed extract from sauvignon blanc grape seeds and the skin of the superfruit kiwifruit. It helps reduce facial flushing, while earth minerals help balance oil production, rescue blemished skin and provide the most natural of tones. This lightweight foundation is superb for all skin conditions including normal, oily, blemish-prone and rosacea.

How I find it: Instructions are available from their website, otherwise simply sprinkle a small amount of foundation into the lid of the pot. Swirl the kabuki brush with the foundation, and tap off excess before applying on my skin in circular movements. A single layer is quite sheer, so build up to achieve a medium coverage. The good thing about this mineral foundation is you can build up the coverage slowly and evenly. I would apply more on areas I need more coverage like my cheeks. Then I would apply my blush, bronzer and the rest of my face makeup. The kabuki brush is soft and fluffy, made with natural hair so it is perfect to apply this mineral powder. I would try the Real Techniques Buffing Brush next as the bristles are more dense. Recommended to spot cleanse with an Antipodes toner and wash with Nirvana Hand & Body Wash once a month.

Overall: The shade is perfect on me, looks really natural and you can customize the coverage to your own preference. The foundation does have a shimmer to it, but it is so fine that it looks like a good natural glow on the skin (sheen) instead of sparkly or shimmery. The mineral powder works great with my combination/oily skin especially when my natural oil mixes with the mineral foundation making the finish very natural – like I am wearing nothing! Antipodes also makes a translucent skin-brightening mineral finishing powder which extends your foundation wear, provides a matte finish and reflects light. I tried it on the back of my hand and I would say that it works great as a highlighting finishing powder!
