Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum

Where I got it: I was invited to the launch of Clinique’s latest smart skincare – Smart Custom-Repair Serum and the goodie bag came with a gorgeous stem of white orchid along with this new smart product. You will see them at Clinique counters from 1st July 2014 with RRP$120/30ml and $168/50ml.

What I got: I was given the Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum in 30ml bottle. The serum comes in a silver box packaging and a silver pump bottle with a clear cap – very sophisticated and expensive looking. I love it on my makeup table! This serum has a breakthrough formula that harnesses the power of 37 patents to deliver custom repair. It repairs damages you see and even the damages you don’t see! Another amazing thing is that the serum understands skin’s distress signals and delivers the appropriate ingredients to start visibly correcting the damage, if ingredients are not needed for a specific concern, the remain on call. How amazing is that?! The serum is suitable for all skin types, ages and ethnicity.

Here’s how Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum works:

• Optimises skin wtih soothing ingredients: Red Algae which helps soothe and calm the skin so it is more receptive to repair, Licorice extract and Caffeine to help optimise cellular efficiency and keep irritation at bay.
• Targets uneven skintone, dark spots and skin dullness: Dianella Ensififolia and Morus Nigra Root extract, Scutellaria Baicelensis Root extract and Grape extract helps to reduce appearance of existing discolouration. Vitamin C and Ergothioneine helps to fight excess melanin production and Salicylic Acid exfoliates the skin to break up dark spots. Glucosamine and Salicylic Acid helps to promote cell renewal.
• Targets lines, wrinkle and firms skin: A blend of collagen boosting peptides to help push up wrinkles from below. Encapsulated repair enzymes are released wot work together to help visibly correct and repair UV damage. Sodium RNA activates the natural repair system to help repair UV damage.
• Firms and lifts skin: Collagen boosting ingredients helps rebuild skin’s support structure to re-volumise the appearance of thin, sagging skin and restore elasticity.
• Sustain hydration and suppleness: Contains Hyaluronic Acid, Barley extract and Wheat Germ extract and Cucumber extract to that skin is well hydrated, supple and plump throughout the day.

How I find it: The serum has a slight peachy tint to it and one pump is enough for the entire face. After washing and toning with my usual skincare (recommended to be used after the Clinique’s 3 step system and before the treatment moisturiser). I pump out a single pump to my fingertips and I dot this onto my forehead, my nose, my cheeks and chin. Massage all over my face and it is instantly absorbed. It leaves my skin feeling really smooth. It leaves a demi-matte finish on the skin. Then I follow it up with a moisturiser with SPF during the day, or a night moisturiser in the evening.

Overall: This serum smells Clinique’s Even Better Skin Tone serum – but by all means this is fragrance free! The slight pinkish tint has tiny light reflecting particles in it to slightly brighten up the skin. I love the texture it gives, it is not too mattifying yet it is moisturising. Skin feels soft to the touch and I am having high hopes for this serum to help with my acne scars, uneven skintone and skin elasticity (I have just reached my 30’s!!!! Yikes). I have no allergic reactions and Clinique’s skincare is really good at that. They do many tests and if there is one person with an allergic reaction, they start over again. How cool is that?! This will definitely be one of my monthly favourites!
