Shiseido UV Protection Stick Foundation SPF30 in Beige

Where I got it: I was sent this for review, but you can buy this from all Shiseido counters from January 2014 (I usually head to Sasa.com or Strawberrynet.com for bargains). They are RRP NZD$47.

What I got: This is a new formulation 9g UV Protection Stick Foundation with SPF30 from Shiseido. I have this in Beige. It guards against powerful UVA/UVB rays as it provides a sheer natural finish. Stick-type formula glides on for a smooth look. 40min water-resistant. Perspiration-resistant. It comes in 5 shades.  I have been using and repurchasing the translucent one from the older formula for a long time and I am a big fan.

How I find it: After my usual skincare routine, I twist the stick foundation up just about 5mm above the tube and apply directly to my face. Two strokes on each of my cheeks, one across my chin, one down my nose and 2 across my forehead. Then I use my fingertips to blend it out. The foundation stick is quite pigmented so this is more of a light coverage. It does feel slightly greasy when first applied, but when it is blended out and settled in, it gives a sort-of powdery feeling to the touch, but natural finish to the eye. I can then apply a layer of mattifying powder to make this longer-lasting or leave it as it is!

Overall: Very convenient if you want to put it in your handbag or take it travelling as liquid foundation may spill or squirt out when you open it due to pressure. Touch up is easy with this stick foundation, however I would recommend wiping it before and after use to keep it hygienic. However, it can be a little tacky to the touch on the skin and if you are quite oily, it might not last too well on your oilier areas.

I have previously used Shiseido’s UV stick foundation in translucent before (old formulation), but mainly as a sunscreen instead of a foundation as it doesn’t give any coverage, but makes my skin whiter after application. I loved it when I tried it for the first time when I was a teenager and have been using it every since. Shiseido’s sunscreen range is a staple in my sun care products, I seldom use anything else other than Shiseido.
